Neuroscience philosophically reflected. Stephan Schleim looks beyond the scope of natural science and discusses the meaning of the research findings.
Stephan Schleim studied philosophy, informatics and neuroscience at the Universities of Mainz and Frankfurt (M.A. 2005). After an internship at the Max Planck Institute for brain research and a visit at the California Institute of Technology he went to the University Clinics Frankfurt and Bonn to investigate moral and legal judgments with functional magnetic resonance imaging. His prevalent theoretical and ethical interests led to a number of publications in the area of neurophilosophy and neuroethics. He definded his doctoral dissertation "Norms and the Brain" at the University of Osnabrück in 2009. He is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department for Theory and History of Psychology at the University of Groningen since October 2009.
Stephan Schleim is also working as a science writer since 2005, published in different German media with translations into Italian, Dutch and Portuguese. 2007 his first book "Gedankenlesen - Pionierarbeit der Hirnforschung" ("Mind Reading - Pioneer Work of Neuroscience) was published.
