Lovers in the Sky
Sex sells, or so the saying goes, so here is my shameless attempt to jump on that bandwagon. In East Asian cultures the 七夕 ("Tanabata" in Japanese, "Qi Xi" in Chinese ... by the way, I hereby disprove, in one fell swoop, the widespread but misplaced notion that the Japanese and Chinese languages are related) festival takes place on the seventh day of the seventh month.

Tunguska 101
Ivan Sergeyevich Petrov frowned as looked up from his breakfast of strong tea and millet broth. Something definitely was wrong here. Surely that hum outside couldn't be due to the mosquitoes? As Ivan stepped outside his log cabin and looked around warily, he was greeted by the most shocking sight of his life.

Now that Kaguya has crashed, only the Indian lunar orbiter Chandrayaan-1 is holding the fort. But reinforcements are on their way: NASA is launching two lunar probes today.

Getting European Astronauts there ... and back again
Europe needs independent manned access to space via its own spacecraft. The current situation where we - the world's largest economy - have to beg other nations to please give our astronauts a lift is ridiculous and untenable.

How to Orbit a Lagrangian Point
I was tempted to title this post "Lagrange Orbits for Dummies" but then thought better of it ... not just because that wouldn't have been very original, but more importantly, because anyone who is interested enough to want to learn about such topics is anything but a dummy.
